Where is Burundi?
Burundi is a beautiful country in Central Africa. The mountains of Burundi are covered in lush greenery and the hills and high plateaus compliment the villages that are scattered throughout them. The bustling capitals, Gitega and Bujumbura, are lively with working, spending time with their family, and shopping for the days provisions. It is not called the “heart of Africa” for nothing!

Life Counseling & THARS
In January of 2020, Sandra Lucas, the Executive Director of Life Counseling, visited her long-time professional colleague Dr. David Niyonzima, the founder of Trauma Healing and Reconciliation Services (THARS). In 2020, Sandra taught a conference to 20 of their counselors on how to heal violence and promote healthy relationships as well as a section on how to raise children without using violence. Those 20 counselors are now working throughout Burundi healing relationships and promoting peaceful practices.
After the last conference in 2020, Sandra was invited again in January of 2024 by Dr. Niyonzima and his staff to teach more about Positive Parenting.
