Philosophy and Approach
I believe counseling can help anyone cultivate hope, gain fresh perspective, and make real changes. I seek to create a warm, collaborative, nonjudgmental environment where every part of you is welcome. From this place we can work together to explore who you are and how to use your unique strengths to heal, grow, and meet your goals. We will also practice skills that can help you think more flexibly, regulate emotions, act more intentionally, and find more peace in your everyday life.
I employ an integrative approach to counseling, which means I use interventions from several counseling theories based on the needs of each individual client. The primary theories I work from include acceptance and commitment therapy, strengths-based therapy, attachment theory, and solution-focused therapy. I orient my work according to trauma-informed principles and an anti-oppression sociocultural lens. My goal is to help you live a life that feels meaningful, is guided by your deepest values, and effectively moves you closer to your authentic self and who you want to be.
Education and Experience
I received my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from George Fox University in May 2023. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in various settings including private practice, a university health center, and school-based settings. My areas of particular interest and experience include ADHD, anxiety, grief and loss, LGBTQIA+ identity and experiences, major life transitions, religious issues, and trauma.
