Philosophy and Approach

I believe that everyone deserves to live a life in which they can thrive as individuals as well as in relation to others. I employ an Attachment, Person-Centered, and Strengths-Based approach with trauma informed principles and an equity and multicultural lens. My goal is to provide a safe and nonjudgemental space for all of my clients to feel welcomed, seen, and accepted. I believe that individuals are experts of their own life experiences and that they can learn, grow and heal with the proper tools and support. My role as a counselor is to work with clients to create a collaborative healing relationship and help instill hope. I work with an open mind and an open heart in supporting and guiding my clients towards healing and change.

Formal Education and Training

I hold a Master’s in Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University. My experience mainly includes working with domestic violence survivors and offenders. I have experience working with diverse populations such as low-income families, unhoused youth, first generation college students, and with folks who have immigrated from different countries. I have received additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Trauma-Informed Care Services, multicultural issues and domestic violence. I subscribe to the Code of Ethics of the American Counseling Association.
