Philosophy and Approach
I offer a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental approach when working with clients. Using an evidenced-based, client-centered therapeutic style, sensitive to the impacts of trauma, I work with your unique situation and concerns to help you gain clarity and understanding towards lasting change. I believe that at our core, we are all relational beings, and it is through relationships, both with ourselves and with others, that true growth and healing can take place. When we have experienced disappointments, pain, and suffering in life, we can view the world and our place in it, through the eyes of our wounded parts, and unhealthy thought processes and relational patterns can take hold. Together, we can work on identifying your strengths and resources while also exploring and uncovering self-limiting beliefs, processes, and patterns, that may be challenging you on your path of self-discovery and personal growth.
Experience and Education
I am a registered MFTA (Marriage and Family Therapist Associate) in the state of Oregon and hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. I also hold a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing from Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Before becoming a therapist, I was a labor and delivery nurse for 10 years. In addition to working with an array of clients in private practice settings, I have had the pleasure of counseling at-risk youth in an alternative education setting and have also had the honor of working with couples during their childbearing years coaching and teaching mindfulness-based childbirth classes. I currently work with adults, teens and couples, empowering all to access their inner strength and wisdom on their path to a more fulfilled and satisfied life. Whether or not you are seeking therapy as a couple, an individual, or as a family, I would consider it an honor and a privilege to work with you.
“It may be that when we no longer know what to do, we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go, we have begun our real journey.” ~
Wendell Berry
